Serco awarded a Service Contract by the European Space Agency to support its Earth Observation Programmes (D-EOP)
Serco has been awarded a two-year contract by the European Space Agency (ESA) to support the Business Unit Controlling Office and the Project Management Support Office for the Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes (D-EOP). A Serco-led consortium will offer comprehensive support to over 30 ESA-developed Earth Observation Missions during all phases of their development. This contract further strengthens Serco's role as a trusted partner to ESA in providing managed services in Business Administration, Configuration and Document management, Project control and Scheduling support, and?will be crucial in supporting ESA’s strategic locations in the Netherlands and Italy. Serco-led consortium plays a key role in Sentinel 2C satellite launch under COP-2 operations service contract
We are proud of our first successful involvement in the launch of the Sentinel-2C satellite as part of the Copernicus Operations (COP-2)?service contract.? The Serco-led consortium has been actively engaged in critical activities since April 2024 to support the satellite’s launch, which took place on the 5th of September from Kourou, French Guiana. Serco's responsibilities included participation in?the preparation and execution of simulations, as well as the launch and early orbit phase (LEOP). We are proud of all of our colleagues who contributed to this successful launch.

.Ariane 6 launch: Serco’s key role in supporting ESA and CNES
Serco’s team in Kourou has provided key support?to the Ariane 6 mission in two critical areas: public relations and communications, and IT services.
The Ariane 6 mission represents a significant achievement for Serco’s involvement in space exploration. The next-generation European rocket is designed for increased flexibility and cost efficiency, capable of launching a wide range of payloads in two configurations. Ariane 6 is set to play a key role in maintaining Europe’s independent access to space and in ensuring the continent remains competitive in the global space industry.

ECLIPSE Software Suite welcomes new clients
We are happy to welcome two new clients on board as our new ECLIPSE users since our last Space Newsletter edition.?The ECLIPSE Software Suite?is?Serco’s?digital solution,?helping?space project and mission teams achieve higher efficiency. The single end-to-end solution brings value to every member of a project team by enhancing and integrating Project Management, Project Assurance, Quality Assurance and Configuration Management activities. The?German Space Agency (DLR) signed up for a multi-year contract to support their projects needs.?4iG, based in Hungary, will use the software suite to support their projects in the integrated telecommunications and IT systems integration fields. Additionally, long term customers Septentrio and the Max Planck Solar Institute for Solar System Research?have?renewed their ECLIPSE Suite contracts.

Serco Awarded ESA Contract to Support the ASCEND Project
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a two-year contract by ESA to support the ASCEND (Advanced Data Access and Processing Services for Collaborative Earth Observation Ground Segment) project.?The project aggregates and catalogues data from multiple Earth Observation missions, providing users with access to high-resolution imagery and comprehensive datasets necessary for in-depth analysis. As the lead of a dedicated consortium, Serco will provide cutting-edge cloud and IT solutions that will transform Earth Observation data accessibility and processing for the scientific community, powering key missions like Biomass, EarthCARE, and FLEX.
