Inside Labour's Environmental Campaign Hub at the Labour Conference

Last month our CEO, Tanya Haffner, was honoured to attend an event organised by SERA at the Labour Party Conference.

Attendees were met by a model white cow at the front door to support a key message in the speech by Dale Vince, from Ecotricity, where he called for Labour to address the cow in the room and put food firmly on Labour's agenda.

For over 50 years, SERA has been at the heart of Labour's policy making on the environment. Like us SERA believes that safeguarding nature and adapting our economy to the needs of the planet is key to delivering opportunity, economic security and fairness.?

There was a lot of people in the room who cared deeply about the environment, the climate and decline of nature including the state of our rivers and Dale Vince highlighted that “…the biggest single cause of all of these things is what we eat and the mass farming of animals. Clean air, clean rivers, social justice - we now have all the tools available to us to make these happen, we have the technology, the economics, and people want it and this government gets it so we now have a real chance to address these and support citizens to eat well”.

President Feargal Sharkey spoke so passionately about SERA being at the nucleus of policy and conversations about what we do next socially, philosophically, morally and physically to turn the UK into a place we want to live in, and are happy for our children to inherit.

We are thankful to Dale, SERA for inviting us and look forward to next steps.
