KTL was named as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies, the leading business awards programme led by Deloitte.
We demonstrated superior business performance for the fifteenth year and were recognised at an awards night at the RDS last week.
Commenting on the award, Alan Hanamy KTL CEO said: “I’m delighted KTL have won this prestigious award for the 15th consecutive year. KTL had a productive two days at Connected Britain 11-12 September 2024, the UK's premier digital economy event. The team met visitors to our stand (111) and had some quality conversations, made new connections, and attended inspiring keynote sessions.
Reflecting on Connected Britain, Paul Korzeniewski, shares one of his insights from the event.
“Tackling digital exclusion was a big focus of the event, Sir Chris Bryant, Minister for Data Protection and Telecoms emphasised the severity of the issue. He pointed out that around 1.5 million people in the UK still live in digital poverty, with many lacking internet access.
"In response to this, organisations like AbilityNet are playing a crucial role in bridging the gap. They provide free services to help people with disabilities, regardless of age, access technology—whether at home, at work, or in education. AbilityNet also offers digital training for people over 65, helping them stay connected in an increasingly digital world. This kind of support is essential for ensuring that everyone, especially the most vulnerable get connected.
"It was great to meet and network with colleagues and potential clients across the industry, all under one roof. It was a valuable opportunity to learn and promote KTL’s agility in areas where we may not be so prominently known. A great few days and on to CB 2025.....”

Celebrating Sue's Retirement at KTL.
Sue Oshea joined KTL in September 2019, just after her 65th birthday. From the very beginning, she brought both valuable experience and a positive mindset.
"When I first joined KTL, it was a small team," Sue reminisces, "just four of us”. We hit the ground running from day one.Looking back, a few key moments stand out, one of them being the unexpected challenge of Covid-19.
"Going into lockdown with the team then of six people based at Solihull Business Park, moving to working remotely on Acquisition & Design projects in Telecoms was quite a feat," Sue says. "But coming out on the other side of Covid with a team of over 30, all working seamlessly despite the distance, is something KTL should be so proud of."
"When the shift to remote work brought feelings of isolation, Sue's solution was very effective."We started having daily 'coffee calls,'" she explains.
"Just like in the office, we'd chat about anything and everything while the kettle boiled. It made a huge difference in keeping the team connected."
Sue's career journey itself is an inspiration. A single mom of two young children, she entered the workforce later in life. "Back then," she says, "it was expected for mothers to stay at home to look after the kids. But once my kids were independent, I started with some office work for a company in Telecoms."
What was one of the most defining moments for Sue? Learning to use a computer. "When I started doing office work, just mainly filing, I had never used a computer before, and I realised that if I was going to better myself, I needed to learn. A friend lent me an old PC and I found a book on ‘computer for beginners’ and just worked through it," she declares. "With determination, I knew I could achieve anything I set my mind to."
This spirit of perseverance is reflected in Sue's advice to others: "Be confident. You can do anything you set your mind to." Her own journey is a testament to that.
