Hi I'm Lyndsey Meredith (LinkedIn & Mindset Coach) and I am thrilled to be bringing you the new Mindset & Marketing Newsletter!

I'm a big believer that marketing & mindset are intrinsically linked which is why I trained in both positive psychology and subconscious marketing.... because strategy only gets you so far without the mindset to carry it off!

In each issue of The Mindset & Marketing newsletter I will be sharing actionable mindset & marketing advice that will help you to grow your business!


Marketing Advice


I stopped doing all of the things that I teach my clients to do and my LinkedIn impressions dropped off a cliff!

We've all done it.... gotten really busy and so we stop doing all of the things that we know that we should be doing... the things that we in fact teach are clients to do.

It becomes a case of "do what I say and not what I do!"

I myself have been guilty of this the past few months as my business has been so busy with my LinkedIn Launchpad students and my LinkedIn Management clients. I stopped doing all of things consistently that lead to LinkedIn success:

  • I didn't post as consistently and when I did it was just to "post"
  • I didn't send out new connection requests
  • I didn't engage with other peoples content in the feed
  • I used the scheduler to post my content and therefore spent less time on the platform
  • I didn't clear down my outstanding connection requests


The Results of this?

When I did post my impressions dropped off a cliff and my content was shown to less people. I gained less business as less people were viewing my content and looking at my profile.

Why? Because LinkedIn wants you to actively spend time on here and BUILD RELATIONSHIPS as that's what it is all about!

They reward you for spending time on the platform and engaging with other people.

Basically the more you feed it the more it will spit out for you.

So... if you haven't been doing "all of the things" that you should be doing and your impressions are low then you can stop wondering why and start doing something about it!


How to get back on track

Focus on GIVING and adding value to LinkedIn and it will reward you. Spend time everyday engaging in the feed and building genuine relationships.

Post consistently not just because you haven't posted in a while but to genuinely engage with your audience.


Types of content to consider:

Stories: About you and your business journey, your client journeys, examples of your work.

Added Value Posts: What tips & advice can you share with your audience that they can go away and implement into their business and gain added value?

Thought Provoking Polls that gain industry insights that you can then share: The algorithm loves a poll but it should be well thought out and have a strategy behind it.

Personal Posts: Allow your audience to get to know you as a person and build deeper relationships.

Video: Video allows people to feel as if you are speaking to them 1:1 which is hugely powerful. It's like having 100's if not 1000's of 1:1 conversations all from one video.

Spotlight on: LinkedIn Events Function

Live events and masterclasses (whether online or offline) can be great tools for bringing in new prospects, building new relationships and growing your email list.

If you run events and are not yet using the LinkedIn events section to fill them up then you are missing out!

When you add your event to the LinkedIn Events section LinkedIn will allow you to invite up to 1000 of your connections per week to attend your event. It will then send them a notification to bring them to your event where they can read your event listing and indicate their interest.

It is a great way to get people to raise their hand and let you know that they are interested in what you do.

Top Tip

Once people have clicked "going" it is an indication that they are interested in their event. However, if you have provided an external event link and they have not yet signed up, LinkedIn will allow you to send follow up messages to thank them for their interest and share your sign up link. Clicking on "going" is an indication of interest but you MUST follow up with them to make sure they then register for your event.



Mindset Advice

The importance of "authenticity" when building your personal brand


I talk about the importance of authenticity with my clients a lot. When building your personal brand it is so important to be your "authentic" self and stay true to your self, rather than trying to be someone that you are not.

In this context “authentic” means remaining true to yourself. It doesn’t mean creating a picture of someone who does not exist and that you or your client or customers cannot possibly attain in real life.

I want you to be inspired to stand out as the “real” you and I want you to let your audience get to know, like and trust YOU and not some idealised version of you. This is extremely important to the success and longevity of your personal brand, as well as your sanity and mental wellbeing.

It should feel good for both yourself and your audience and allow you to build genuine connections and form meaningful relationships. In the words of the mighty Oprah “The greatest gift you can give yourself is the permission to be yourself. Your authenticity is what will make you stand out in a crowded world.” I want to urge you to embrace your uniqueness and let it become your superpower. You may not feel as if you are unique or have anything out of the ordinary to offer to the world right now. However, I am going to make it my mission to help you to identify and embrace your uniqueness and build a personal brand that feels 100% authentic and aligned.

For as Walt Disney once said “The more you are like yourself, the less you are like everyone else which makes you unique.”

When you build a personal brand that is not authentic, it does not feel good and moreover will often lead to you attracting the wrong people. You will have noticed that in the introduction to this book I talked about helping you to “attract the clients that you will love to work with.”

By not being the “real you” you will find that you attract the wrong people who you therefore do not enjoy working with. I invite you to fully embrace how amazing and unique you are and promise you that you can build a personal brand and have a wildly successful business just by being yourself. How amazing is that!

Yes there may be things that at the beginning may feel slightly uncomfortable to you and visibility blocks to overcome,?but by staying true to yourself and maintaining your authenticity the journey will be less bumpy and much more satisfying.

People will buy into you BECAUSE of who you are not despite it. I was massively inspired by something that actress Melissa McCarthy had to say on this subject. In her words “I’ve never felt I needed to change. I’ve always thought if you want somebody different, pick somebody else.”

I would love you to embody this quote going forward. If people do not like you for you then they are simply not your people- and that is okay. Some people are meant for you and some people are not. When we embrace this the act of building our personal brand and becoming more visible in our market place becomes so much easier.

It fits in perfectly with this weeks theme of being your authentic self and is filled with absolute golden nuggets of advice. Even better if you get the audio book as Matthew narrates in his own unique style. Thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring!

PODCAST: The Mel Robbins podcast. I am a huge fan of Mel Robbins. She is a fantastic listen especially if you feel in need of some tough love and a bit of a kick up the bum!!
