Welcome to the Hell… oops, I meant the Bell!
For years LinkedIn experts and users have asked to be able to indicate whose posts we want to see in our Home Feed.?It seems that LinkedIn did finally, listen and introduced “the Bell” which is a great feature of course!
With this new feature come a lot of extra questions both in terms of strategy and functionality
Strategy questions
What will be the impact of this feature on Sales Navigator??
Given that if I Follow someone on LinkedIn, I can set the Bell and I will get notifications when they post. I can then go to the post and engage Compare this Save and Look at your Home Feed in Sales Nav.? Of course, Sales Navigator still has more unique features.
Actually, I will possibly be getting more notifications?about posts than in Sales Navigator where I only see the posts that have an image, video, or link.?Now I wee the posts with polls, articles, newsletters, pdf documents, and more!
Does anyone want to shed some light on this?
Is LinkedIn shifting the attention from Home Feed to the Notification section?
After the introduction of Newsletters and now the Bell, I can see the focus change from your Home Feed to where the important stuff is happening namely the Notification section.
It looks like LinkedIn’s way to take the attention off the algorithm in view of possible court cases about the algorithm and shy away from all the hoopla around the algorithm.
Will the algorithm become extinct or become less of an obsession for content creators and LinkedIn Algorithm researchers?

Will this Bell function open more room for paid content to make it into your Home Feed?
As we will be turning our attention to the Notification box to learn about new posts from people that we want to follow closely, we will be training our Home Feed.?Will this mean we will be seeing less content from people we only have TOP notifications on and thus opening up free slots for paid and LinkedIn self-serving posts??Time will tell.
Functionality questions
As with any new function, come many questions such as:
1.?????How many people can one “Bell”?
2.?????Can I see a list of who I “Belled”?
3.?????Will the “Bell” rind if you post multiple times/day?
Conclusion
I guess it will be experiment time again!
It looks like 2022 will become a very interesting year for LinkedIn’s Home Feed.?I wonder...

3 年As is the case with every feature- I don't have this yet. I would like to see how this site works without an algorithm. In the old days I had many readers and comments. Now I have a select and engaged few. I shall never beg anyone to "Ring the bell". I have seen that on other sites and it feels desperate bordering on pathetic.

3 年Youtube has a bell too. Sometimes it works, most times it doesnt. ??

3 年Mic Adam, I am confused. The Notification icon is a bell. When you use the term, "the bell," are you referring to something totally different? Where can I learn more about this "bell" system on LinkedIn? Do I need to go to LinkedIn Help and ask questions?
