Welcome To "From The Beach"

Welcome to my first newsletter!

As you may know, my business is built on my knowledge and experience of working on strategy, planning and performance in the House of Commons and has evolved into two main businesses offering business consultancy and mentoring and publishing a business magazine called Steer Your Business.

"From The Beach" comes from the original magazine title which was Reverse The Tide and I still use this to write an article in each issue of Steer Your Business.

Reverse The Tide has now become a platform for independent businesses, local producers and environment issues having taken a back seat for a while.

So what is new in the world of business strategy?

Everyone needs a strategy - a plan to get them from where they are now to where they want to be. For some, that just means taking each day as it comes and reacting to whatever happens. For others, that means having a specific plan with actions that get them a bit closer to their final goal.

Recently I've been contacted by two people who found me on social media. One would like to take on a pub tenancy and needs help with her business plan, particularly the financials. She has experience in hospitality but not in running a business so there have been several conversations about what is needed, how she finds the right people and how she will manage and monitor the business once it's up and running.

The second person to contact me is looking to start a new business based on her previous experience. She is looking for business consultancy to help her get started, possibly as a community interest company. With that in mind, she is looking to have her own magazine which would generate income for the CIC.

Having a magazine is a powerful tool for any business as I well know and opens many doors.
