Climate On Screen: Tools and resources for climate storytellers

Since the release of climate-themed comedy "Don’t Look Up" in 2021, global fossil fuel use has dropped dramatically… Wait, no, that’s not true. Since the release of "Don’t Look Up," fossil fuel use has continued to rise.

Stories won’t stop climate change. But they can give us new ideas and new ways to talk about things. They can give us new reference points and new metaphors. And you never know which stories are going to prove to be the most relevant. I mean, who would have guessed in 1975 that "Jaws" was a movie about climate change?

The montage below, narrated by Meryl Streep, introduces Climate On Screen, a resource for content creators on incorporating environmental ideas into screen stories. The website offers guides from several sources, including albert’s Telling Climate Stories Pocket Guide, the BBC’s Environmental Sustainability Topic Guide, and NRDC’s Rewrite The Future Tip Sheet, as well as links to research, consultants, and funding opportunities.
