SHOW TIME EMBEDDED WORLD Worth to visit?

After a couple of years with covid it is time to meet again. Embedded world is going to offer the widest portfolio of embedded products & services. There will be millions of good discussions about technology and future. Technology is in the center but communication and exchanging the ideas between people is the most important asset. Without interaction and communication, the world is not advancing and there will not be development. I’m waiting to meet a lot of old and new contacts to discuss about their views and how we can improve together.

New things in embedded computing in the show

SMARC

Smarc portfolio keeps growing and we will see new CPU’s arriving to the standard. The portfolio is expanding with NXP imx8ULP with ultralow power features. First NXP imx9 -boards are in the development board. AMD Ryzen as well has arrived at marc and gives the latest performance level to the platform. This is including extremely good graphical performance with inbuild VEGA graphical controller. Intel Elkhart lake smarc is also now in production and will give additional features like time sensitive networks (TSN) and TCC which is enabling real time capabilities, CAN buses and extreme long-time availability. ?We will also see near future new chip vendors entering to the smarc family like Renesas, TI, MediaTek etc.

COM HPC & COM Express

The other important new launch is COM-HPC standard product which is offering the latest and greatest performance levels in edge computing. With the client and server formfactors it will give 25GB ethernets and latest PCI 4/5 express support with up to 65 lanes. This new standard is really an extension for the good COM Express standard enabling high-performance computing in the edge devices. The latest arrival for this platform is Intel Alder Lake CPU’s which are offering scalable performance for various computing workloads. Alder Lake is also boosting COM Express with U and P -versions. Tiger Lake is also launching in COM Express and will enable wide temp and rugged features for demanding applications in harsh conditions.

OSM new kid on the block

OSM is as well launching with first products in drawing board. First engineer samples will be available some time in autumn and will be based on imx8 -family products. This interesting new standard is its name says OSM (Open Standard Module). Benefits are that it is soldered together with other components to the baseboard and do not have any connector. It is also very compact so it will enable small footprint products with high computing power and great variety of I/O’s.?This standard is going to unleash new product innovations with great speed. It will have 4-standard sizes where the smallest one is only 30mmx15mm in size.
