Welcome Corps on Campus: An Opportunity For Syrian Refugee Students in Jordan to Resettle in the US in 2025

If you are a registered Syrian refugee who is residing in Jordan and meets the criteria below, you may want to apply for one of the 150 slots that will become available for Syrian refugee students to resettle in the US in 2025 at an American college or university. The deadline for applications is September 29, 2023.

Welcome Corps , which began in January 2023, affords registered refugees the possibility of being sponsored to resettle in the US and gain an American college degree. It is still in a pilot program form — limiting the numbers and criteria for US entry. As the program succeeds, those offered an opportunity to apply will increase. But for the time being, the number of places available for students are highly limited and competitive.

If you wish to consider applying you must meet the following criteria:

• Be currently living in Jordan
• Be registered with UNHCRNote: the Call for Applications includes further country-specific eligibility criteria
• Be between 18-24 years old at the time of application
• Have completed secondary school and be in possession of original secondary school certificates and/or transcripts at the time of application. Note: the Call for Applications includes minimum academic eligibility criteria
• Be competent in oral and written English
• Be single (unmarried) with no children
• Be facing barriers to accessing or completing undergraduate post-secondary education
• Be self-reliant, mature and suitable for integration in the United States as an individual
