Welcome to the Collaborative Hotel Mapping Era

Since its early beginnings, TravelgateX has always come across a common and difficult obstacle. For various reasons, one of the biggest if not the single biggest "pain point" is hotel mappings. After the buyer finishes the development work required to integrate the API, the mapping phase starts. This phase can take as long and as little as the partner wants or needs to. Sellers with thousands of hotels, like booking.com with over 1.3 Million or Expedia with 300,000+ or any other re-seller for that matter, can take weeks or even months to map. And even so, the mapping will never be 100% complete or accurate.

This problem is as old as multi-source hotel purchasing exists, and up until recently there was maybe one company addressing this problem. Nowadays, with the advent of ML, many startups have sprouted offering Machine Learning based solutions. Each company deals with this problem differently, some use ML, others perform manual mappings with large amounts of people manually matching hotels between different suppliers, others develop an in-house solution based on geo code or fuzzy matching, but there's no real standard nor no 100% accurate solution.

At TravelgateX, we wanted to do it differently, and in line with our philosophy and beliefs. We came up with the "first-in-the-industry" collaborative hotel mapping solution. Think of Wikipedia for hotel codes, or Kickstarter, or Fight Club... Anybody can send us their mapping and we will return all the coincidences of those mappings matched against any of our partners'. And in the process we will tell you if we think any of your mappings are not in line with us. This tool suggests, it does not or will ever claim to be perfect, it simply provides the matches and, just like a democracy, the majority should be right...
