His leadership in technology innovation, combined with his ability to build empowered, high-performing teams, positions him perfectly to drive Informatech’s growth across the ICT landscape. Background and Journey:

What experiences have shaped your career and led you to join Informatech as CTO?

I’ve been extremely fortunate to have enjoyed a tremendously varied career that began while still at school, working at McDonald’s. I believe it was these formative years, which included three years of management while I was at university, that shaped my career more so than my degree. Irrespective of what people may think about the food, McDonald’s leads the world in their approach to training, building teams, and teaching communication, with everything tied back to their customer-centric methodology. I believe these skills—especially the focus on relating everything back to the customer, which we sadly tend to overlook far too often when thinking about technology—have been the catalyst for my success.

After completing my studies, I moved to Canberra from Toowoomba as part of the Centrelink ICT Graduate Program. I enjoyed long tenures at Centrelink, the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, and the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, where I led Application Development, Infrastructure, and Architecture sections at various times. I was able to combine all these skill sets at Leidos, initially as a Chief Architect and then, for the last five years, as the CTO of the IT Project division. There, I was fortunate to work with incredible teams to deliver some of Australia’s largest digital transformation programs.

As part of these programs, we often partnered with Informatech, whose expertise and experience were critical in successfully delivering many of these projects and whose corporate ethos reflects my own beliefs. I am excited to join Informatech, where I can bring everything I’ve learned over the past 25 years, along with my experience in Federal Government, to help Informatech take the next leap in its corporate journey.

Vision for the Role:

What are your priorities for Informatech’s technology strategy, and how do you see it impacting the business over the next 12 months?

Informatech is rightly known for being best-in-breed in providing Managed Testing services for the Federal Government. What isn’t as widely known is the depth of people and expertise Informatech can provide across the ICT infrastructure, architecture, and governance spheres.

My priority is to become a true partner with our Federal Government customers by updating our technology roadmaps, case studies, and strategies to deliver the key technology and governance outcomes that our customers require. I plan to expand our technology and architecture capabilities by tailoring the processes and frameworks developed in our testing services and by hiring and empowering talented, experienced professionals.

I believe this approach will build on Informatech’s established reputation for excellence by taking the core of what has made the company successful in delivering testing services and, over the next 12 months, establishing us as a trusted partner for enhanced technical and managed services across the broader ICT landscape.

Leadership and Innovation:

What leadership qualities or skills do you believe are key to fostering innovation and driving success in a technology-driven organisation?

I’ve been fortunate to work with a number of exceptional leaders whose lessons I’ve incorporated into my own leadership style. One of the key attributes I’ve seen in every successful organisation is the empowerment of staff to use their expertise to solve customer problems.

One of the most attractive qualities of joining Informatech was the opportunity to work with some of Australia’s brightest technical minds. A significant part of my role is to foster a culture of creativity and empowerment, enabling our staff to work closely with customers to define and implement innovative technology solutions.

Excitement and Goals:

What excites you most about joining Informatech, and what do you hope to achieve in this role?

Informatech is at an exciting juncture as we scale the engineering and management excellence we’ve developed through our Managed Testing Services to other ICT Technical and Managed Services offerings. Our goal is to deliver the same level of expertise and technical leadership that our customers have come to expect.

I love that we are a medium-sized, sovereign-based company because it gives us the best of both worlds: we have the people, processes, and experience to deliver complex, mission-critical outcomes while maintaining the flexibility and agility to respond to the rapidly evolving requirements of our customers.

I’m excited to bring my 20+ years of digital transformation experience to define our service offerings and work in partnership with our Federal Government customers to deliver secure and scalable solutions for all Australians.
