Welcome to "Becoming that Midwife": Your Weekly Shot of Birth and Beyond!

Hello, fellow midwives and birth enthusiasts! ??

I’m excited to announce the launch of my new LinkedIn newsletter, “Becoming That Midwife” where we’ll dive into the wonderful world of midwifery with a sprinkle of humor and a dash of wisdom.

Whether you’re an accomplished midwife or just starting your journey, this newsletter is crafted to inspire, inform, and occasionally make you chuckle (or at least smile) as we navigate the beautiful chaos of bringing new life into the world.

Why "Becoming That Midwife"?

Let’s face it: being a midwife is like being a superhero without the cape (seriously, capes are a choking hazard). We juggle countless responsibilities—monitoring fetal heart rates, providing emotional support, and trying to explain to new parents that no, you can’t actually “schedule” a baby. Our days are filled with moments that are equal parts wondrous and downright hilarious.

This newsletter aims to celebrate those moments. Think of it as your weekly coffee break (or tea, if that’s your jam) where we can share stories, insights, and maybe some memes that perfectly capture the midwifery experience.

What Can You Expect?

1. Real Talk

We’ll tackle the tough topics: from navigating difficult conversations with parents to dealing with depression no one sees. Expect candid discussions that resonate with our unique experiences and challenges.

2. Tips & Tricks

Want to know how to convince a laboring mom that breathing is more effective than yelling? Or how to discreetly eat your lunch during a 12-hour shift? I’ll share practical advice that you can apply in your training or practice—and maybe even some hacks for surviving the night shift without turning into a zombie.

3. Humor & Humanity

Laughter is the best medicine (right after actual medicine). The editions will feature funny anecdotes from my practice—like the time a newborn held my measuring tape so tight that I had to stop the measurements. We’ll share those light-hearted moments that remind us why we love what we do.

?4. Spotlight on You

I want to hear from you! Each month, I’ll feature stories from fellow midwives. Have a funny birth story? A unique approach that worked wonders? Or perhaps an embarrassing moment that still makes you cringe? Let’s celebrate our community by sharing our experiences!
