Welcome, Bayer Co.Lab Shanghai

Welcome, Bayer Co.Lab Shanghai

I would like to share my opening speech from the Bayer Co.Lab Shanghai ceremony today:

?

Good morning, Guten Morgen, 早上好 zǎo shang hǎo.

Welcome distinguished guests, esteemed partners, and dedicated colleagues to this exciting occasion—the inauguration of Bayer Co.Lab Shanghai!

Today, we gather not just to celebrate innovation in China, but to ignite a spark of ideas and collaboration that will be brought to life.

Your presence here today is a testament to the collective vision we share—a vision that embraces innovation, fosters collaboration, and drives progress in life sciences.

Bayer Co.Lab Shanghai is much more than just a physical space; it is a vibrant ecosystem designed to nurture groundbreaking ideas and transform them into impactful solutions.

Here, researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders will come together to collaborate, innovate, and push the boundaries of what’s possible.

We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support from our local government and community leaders, who have recognized the potential of this initiative.

I would like to thank Mr. Zhu Zhisong and Mr. Wu Qiang for their commitment to fostering a thriving biopharmaceutical landscape has been instrumental in bringing us to this moment.

Today, we are also joined by several key figures in the pharma industry and life sciences community.

We are excited to have the Shanghai Innovation team with us, who have made significant contributions to our Bayer Co.Lab Shanghai partnership.

?Meanwhile, we are honored to have leaders and innovators from renowned organizations and institutions, including Chen Li from Hua Medicine, who will share his insights and experiences, guiding Bayer Co.Lab Shanghai’s journey. Their expertise and passion for innovation will undoubtedly inspire all of us.

?Additionally, we have our colleagues from Bayer who continue to provide their passion and dedication to helping us thrive.

?Many thanks to Sebastian Guth, Seth Ettenberg , Gustavo Pesquin , and Xiaolan Zhou?, who are with us today and have been supportive along our journey.

XieXie to our PH BD&L team in China!

As we have seen in the imagery for Bayer Co.Lab Shanghai in the exhibition area, the dragon, or loong, is a symbol of strength and magnanimity.

It is fitting that this is the year of the dragon in the Chinese calendar.

There’s a phrase in Chinese that is appropriate for today: “lóng téng sì hǎi, wàn xiàng gēng xīn” (龙腾四海,万象更新).

It translates to “The dragon soars across the seas, and all things are renewed.”

Let us embrace the spirit and strength of Loong, and together, start a brand-new chapter of the open innovation journey in China.

Thank you, Danke and XieXie all for being here today. Let’s embark on this exciting journey together!
