Buffalo, September 7, 2017 - South Park High School, located at 150 Southside Parkway, will be hosting several FREE events throughout the upcoming school year, open to students, parents, residents of South Buffalo as well as all of Western New York. These community events run from two Saturdays a month from 9am – 12pm with free breakfast being served at 9am and free lunch at 11:30am. The events include various activities for the whole family including sports, games, arts and crafts, classes and workshops. Many community organizations participate as well, distributing very useful information in health and wellness, safety, educational support, legal and financial guidance to the participants. Here are the dates, themes and activities:
To kick off the year, South Park will be hosting a Welcome Back to School Community Event on Saturday, September 16, from 9am – noon. This event will include:
- Local vendor displays promoting and selling goods and services
- Information resource tables addressing community needs
- Goal setting and mentoring for and by South Park High School students
- Arts and crafts
- Indoor and outdoor sports and fitness activities for all ages, including swimming lessons
- Bounce house
- Digital music production workshop with Cold Knarly
- Interactive dance party
- “How to Help Your Child Set and Meet Realistic Goals,” a special workshop for parents, helping them get their children re-acclimated to the new school year
- “Healthy Cooking on a Budget” workshop, helping participants to plan and cook healthy (and economical) meals
Free breakfast (9am) and lunch (11:30am) will be offered.
