A graph beneath these statistics indicates the unemployment rate over the last six months, with figures remaining around 4.0% from September 2024 to February 2025. The latest Employment Situation Report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows continued job growth, with total nonfarm payroll employment rising by 151,000 in February. The unemployment rate held steady at 4.1%. Gains were led by healthcare, financial activities, transportation and warehousing, and social assistance, while federal government employment declined.?

Healthcare led job growth in February with 52,000 new positions, particularly in ambulatory health care services (+26,000), hospitals (+15,000), and nursing and residential care facilities (+12,000). Financial activities added 21,000 jobs, with gains in real estate (+10,000) and insurance carriers (+5,000), though commercial banking lost 5,000 jobs. Transportation and warehousing grew by 18,000, driven by couriers and messengers (+24,000). Social assistance saw 11,000 new jobs, while federal government employment declined by 10,000. Retail trade had a net loss of 6,000 jobs, largely due to strike activity in food and beverage retailers (-15,000), offset by gains in general merchandise retailers (+10,000).?

Industries that showed little to no change over the month included mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction; construction; manufacturing; wholesale trade; information; professional and business services; leisure and hospitality; and other services.?

Average hourly earnings rose by $0.10 (0.3%) to $35.93, reflecting a 4.0% increase over the past year. The average workweek remained at 34.1 hours across private nonfarm payrolls. The job market is still moving, with steady hiring trends across key industries. Whether you're job searching or hiring, these insights can help you stay ahead.?

February Poll Results?

A Valentine’s Day-themed LinkedIn poll results graphic with a pastel pink and purple gradient background. The text at the top asks, "What aspect of a job would make you 'fall in love' at first sight?" A heart-themed pie chart displays the poll results: Competitive pay & benefits (32%), Remote/work flexibility (32%), Great company culture (24%), and Growth opportunities (12%). Small heart decorations are strung across the top of the image, and the Blue Signal logo is placed in the bottom left corner.

Each month, we turn to our growing community of 300K+ followers on LinkedIn to gather insights on workplace trends, hiring, and career goals. In February, we explored how AI is being used in the workplace, job search strategies, and—just in time for Valentine’s Day—what makes professionals fall in love with their jobs. Here’s what our audience had to say:?

  • What Makes a Job Lovable: To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked what would make professionals fall in love with a job at first sight. 32% chose competitive pay & benefits, tying with 32% who value remote/work flexibility. 24% highlighted great company culture, while 12% prioritized growth opportunities. These results emphasize that while salary is important, flexibility and workplace culture are just as crucial in long-term job satisfaction. View the poll here.?

  • Job Search Strategies: When it comes to job hunting, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. 49% of respondents prefer to apply selectively, while 32% apply to as many jobs as possible to increase their chances. 15% rely on networking first before applying, and 4% aren’t currently job searching. This data reinforces the importance of strategic applications and networking in today’s competitive job market. View the poll here.?

  • AI in the Workplace: With AI transforming industries, we asked how companies are integrating this technology into their workflows. 35% of respondents said their company is testing AI in some areas, while 30% are already using it regularly. Meanwhile, 19% are interested but haven’t adopted AI yet, and 16% avoid AI altogether. As AI adoption continues to grow, businesses are split between early adopters and cautious observers.
