Welcome back to my ISE 2023 Blog… Covering Monday & Tuesday at the show…
?
Monday 30th?January 2023
Whilst Monday is actually the day before the show, whenever I can, I try and get my brands to undertake videos and other activities on Monday. Therefore, I get to the show early Monday AM and pick up my badge. I always organise an exhibitor badge via one of our brands, so I can access the show early???
Monday is a great day for getting acclimatised with not only the local time but where all our brands are located and other stands I want to visit. I knew The Rai like the back of my hand, but there were quite a few changes as The Fira and show develops. I say hello to a few familiar faces and take a few pics of the build-up. I’m thrilled to see ISE advertising the amazing?Together for Cinema?group, formed by the fabulous?Ian Morrish. More on that in tomorrow’s blog…?
On my travels, I bump into the amazing?Mark Coxon. Mark is not only one of the most respected “Techs” in AV but also one of the nicest Guys I have had the pleasure to meet. I, therefore, walk Mark over personally to the?PlexusAV?brand at the back of Hall 5, where?Steve Cogels?of PlexusAV had what I would call a “Whisper Suite” to show the prototypes of a totally new product line.
PlexusAV is actually owned by Sencore a leading Broadcast Manufacturer who have exclusively designed and engineered a whole new AV-over-IP company line using a standard. PlexusAV had asked Re-Sauce to invite leading AV Consultants, Tech Influencers, Technical AV Integrators and others who would be interested in reviewing these products before they go into production. The PlexusAV mission is as follows – “To simplify AV distribution with a stress-free approach to systems design using a mesh of human + network” For those that are interested, here are some of the highlights, and if you need to know, just mail or DM me???!
There is also a more “In Depth” piece on the rAVe site here.??https://www.ravepubs.com/rave-video/ise-2023-plexusav-explains-pros-of-ipmx-av-over-ip-ecosystem/

Monday as you can see, is also a great day for shooting brand videos, as it is normally reasonably quiet and so… After taking some photos and videos with PlexusAV, DTEN and HYP, I head upstairs for the?AV User Group?Presentations.
?
Re-Sauce also organised for two of our brands DTEN & HYPERVSN, to present to the UK AV User Group. In my experience, this is one of the best events at ISE.?Owen Ellis?and his lovely assistant?Andrea Jupp?run a very tight ship, and so you are only allowed 5 minutes to present your brand and what it is showing new at ISE. More on that tomorrow…
First up?Doug Remington?at?DTEN, who as ever, does a great job of presenting DTEN to the large group Owen had assembled. Doug’s presentation was all about their new “Multi-Platform” products. This was exceptionally well received, despite the fact that the Spanish Sun was searing through the blinds, causing the screen to become more difficult to see and the room to get pretty warm! Owen later shared with me that the blinds were faulty and would not shut, and despite The Fira knowing this, they “forgot” to mention it to Owen and, indeed were unable to fix them… So naughty, Fira! The fantastic?Chris Smith?from HYPERVSN was also due to present to AVUG later on that day... However, as Chris’s flight got cancelled, HYPERVSN asked Yours Truly to step in and present, which of course, I was only too happy to do… By then, the screen was almost entirely washed out by the sunlight, but like a true Pro I rattled through all the slides in a stunning 4 mins and 30 seconds???! Anyway, despite The Fira and their failings in the room, this was still an excellent event, and so Big Up to Owen and Andrea.

After a super busy day, I headed out to dinner with the DTEN Team and have the real pleasure of meeting?Wei Liu?the CEO and Founder of DTEN. What a great Guy and so much energy; we have a fun night, and I head off, not too late to bed, ready for the Official Day 1 of ISE.

Up early, I head towards the entrance of ISE with my faithful rucksack on my back. Despite me being super early, there is already a good crowd queuing… I’m off to the AV News Awards Breakfast. This year The Fira decided to locate this breakfast down in Hall 8. Now for those that didn’t either know of or get to Hall 8, that is because the entrance to ISE is in Barcelona, and it feels like the AV News Breakfast was actually in Madrid??. However, despite the VERY long walk, it’s a great turnout as ever and very well run.?Sue Pritchard?did an admiral job of cracking through the categories, and?Saskia Josephine?of marshalling all the troops.
The event went really well, and I was so pleased to see?Royce Lye?from Benq honoured. A top banana who has created an amazing brand between himself and his team. Always great to catch up with?Stuart Lockhart?from TDM, who runs Vision. That is the great thing about a good show; you get to see people you haven’t seen in years through COVID.?
After a number of key press appointments and some lunch, where the queues were not quite as bad as last year, but still not good enough… It’s time for the DTEN Press Event organised by Re-Sauce. During the day, I had caught up with?Adam Goldstein?Head of Commercial for Future Publishings B2B; Adam is a really good guy and told me that one of his star journo was stuck in JFK due to a late flight and so unlikely to attend…
?
It’s always tough to know how these Press Events will go at such a busy show, but I was thrilled to see not only Cindy Davis from SCN, but Mark Pescatore and Laura Vallis from ISE Daily, as well as Sue, Saskia and Prem from AV News, Guy Campos from AV Magazine and a number of other key journos from France and Germany. If you weren’t aware, Re-Sauce handles the Press & PR for all EMEA for DTEN, and due to our strong links in the US, we also help get coverage for the US at shows for them as well. The lovely?Nia Celestin?Head of Marketing at DTEN and?Doug Remington, the EMEA GM for DTEN, take everyone through the new products and the event is deemed a great success, much to my relief! After a couple more meetings at the show, I head off early into the long cab line outside…

That night I was thrilled that?Tim Bigoness?CMO/VP of Sales at D-Tools, and I had been invited onto the?ADI?Table at the Inavate awards by?Ian Neale (Formerly Exertis). I was introduced to and sat next to the very lovely?Cynthia Menna?who Heads up all of ADI’s Global Business. I was gobsmacked by the size of ADI and really enjoyed spending time with Cynthia and hearing all her plans for ADI. It was a great night and big shout out to?Dan Jago?and all the?Inavate?team for an amazing venue and great awards, although I do still have concert ring from the live drummers! So many thanks to Ian, ADI and Inavate for a fabulous night and even better that?Peerless?won the Penultimate Award of the night. Luckily, I was on hand to take the picture and send it to?Beky Cann?and the team???! I head off a bit before the crowd to grab one of the few taxis available at the location…

Tune in tomorrow for what happened on Wednesday and Thursday and, of course, at the Legendary Peerless Party!????#AVTweeps
