Welcome Back

Welcome Back

Do you want to add a spark to your organisation’s internal communications?

Over the last few months, I've decided to take a break from LinkedIn, but last week I thought it was about time to reconnect and start to build my network again.

While I know it's not for everyone, LinkedIn is a great place to grow your network and to build connections with like-minded individuals. I’ve always found it a great place to share ideas and tips on internal communication (and to hear other views too). There are so many great voices on LinkedIn, and I’m keen to help share some of my experience too…

As part of my ‘reconnection’ I thought I’d start with a newsletter, to share a few hints and tips on how internal communication can help your team, so, watch this space!

How are you communicating?

Internal communication works, but in many conversations that I’ve had over the last few months there still seems to reluctance amongst some to take the plunge and invest.

While organisations are more than happy to invest in marketing (and why not, it makes sense) solely focusing on “the external” they miss a huge opportunity to engage inside the organisation.

What organisation wouldn’t want to see increased collaboration, trust, and understanding amongst their workforce along with a more profitable team? Internal communications can really help with all of this (and more).?

In each newsletter, I’ll suggest a few ideas on internal communications. If you’ve any questions or thoughts, please do get in touch and I’ll be sure to include them!

It’s good to talk, but it’s even better to listen…

Listening is the most underrated tool in any internal communication toolbox, when was the last time you took a moment to listen to how people are responding and interacting with your messages?

  • Spark: Take some time to ask a few colleagues what they think and what you can change to help get the message across

One size doesn’t fit all:

You don’t need to use all your communication tools for every message. Less can be more, so don’t be afraid to think differently about how you communicate your message.

  • Spark: Take a look at how you communicate and make sure your message is being shared the very best way.

Keep it short:

  • Spark: Why use 888 words when eight will do?

Time to renew your spark? ?

Over the last 20 years I’ve been lucky enough to work with so many different organisations, helping to build and develop internal communication strategies, lead on change programmes, M&A activity and create events that sparkle.

In the final quarter of the year, I’m launching a brand new product to help internal communication teams realise the potential that they have.

It’s called renew your spark and is a chance to press the pause button, create some time to think and review of current activities, plans and strategies.

If you'd like to know more about renew your spark (or any of my other programmes), please do get in touch.

Want to know more?

It’d be great to connect again! Maybe you’ve got a question or an idea, either way… let me know! ?
