Driverless Karsan Autonomous e-Atak Demonstrated at Safety Park in Vadena for SASA Bolzano
Karsan Autonomous e-Atak was demonstrated on March 10 at the Safety Park track in Vadena, Bolzano, Italy. This groundbreaking event, organized in collaboration with SASA, aimed to showcase and evaluate the vast potential of driverless technology in transforming public transportation. This demonstration marks a significant milestone as the first-ever showcase of a fully electric and L4 automated bus in Italy.
Bolzano Transport Minister Daniel Alfreider , SASA President Astrid Kofler, and SASA General Manager Ruggero Rossi de mio attended the event and shared their important insights on the future of autonomous mobility.

Our paper,?"Vehicle Longitudinal Speed Estimation Using 3DOF Localization Information and Genetic Solver,"?has been accepted at the?12th International Conference on Vehicle Technology and Intelligent Transport Systems (VEHITS) 2025.
Co-authored by Reza Ghahremaninejad, Ph.D. (Localization & Vehicle Interface - Team Leader), ?mer Konan (Localization & Vehicle Interface - Software Engineer), Dr. Kerem Par, PhD, (CTO, ADASTEC & Department of Computer Engineering, Do?u? University), and Dr. Ali Ufuk Peker, PhD, (CEO, ADASTEC & Department of Software Engineering, Do?u? University),?this research introduces an innovative approach to real-time vehicle velocity estimation for automated vehicles (AVs).
The study proposes a?real-time velocity estimation method?using?3DOF localization data?and a?vehicle dynamic bicycle model, optimized with a?genetic solver. Validated against actual speed sensor measurements, the results demonstrate its potential for redundancy during speed sensor failures—offering a reliable solution for critical AV modules like control, planning, and perception. We’re proud to drive innovation in AV technology and contribute to advancements in automated vehicle solutions.
