Welcome Alan Test
Friends and family please help me welcome Alan Test to the Rotary Club of Northern California Gateway, District 5160. Initially he joined Rotary when moved to North Carolina in 2009.
Upon Returning to California at the beginning of 2013 he became a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco Evening. This was a great experience for him as 90% of the members were under 40, so it was nice for him to be with the people who will be the future of Rotary.
Due to retiring and moving out of San Francisco, he became a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Newport Beach in January of 2019, which was formed as an e-club to connect people in different locations on mutual service projects.
His main project, which he will be continuing with, is Inclusive Sailing. A Rotarian owns two sailboats that are equipped for people with physical disabilities and are currently at the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club.
He is also involved in a blind sailing program at the Richmond Yacht Club. In addition, he have been doing a clothes collection for the homeless for the Bay Area Rescue Mission in Richmond. Because of his sailing interest, he is a member of the International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians and is currently the Commodore of the San Francisco Fleet (Chapter).
He is also a member of the Surfing and Cycling Fellowships. He has a talk he give to Rotary clubs on using fellowships to increase membership and community service opportunities.
He will be the guest speaker at the Richmond Rotary Club on August 14th. 2020.
His wife, Sue Rokaw, is also a Rotarian and a member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco #2, and is the Immediate Past District Governor of District 5150. Both Paul Harris Fellows, Major Donors, Bequest Society, and Rotary Direct participants as part of Every Rotarian Every Year. They also contribute to Polio Plus.
