Welcome To "AI Buddy!"
Matt Carroll

I found a new name for my newsletter, as you can see. Welcome to AI Buddy! I wanted something that feels approachable, helpful, and—well—like a buddy who’s got your back as you use AI to drive changes and deliver projects in your business.
AI Buddy is all about keeping things simple, practical, and useful. I plan to share insights, tips, and hopefully some real-world examples of how AI can help you achieve positive results for any type of change initiative or project in your business.
So, whether you’re leading complex transformations or just looking to streamline everyday tasks, I hope you find something in AI Buddy that makes AI feel more accessible, manageable, and, most of all, usable. Enjoy! - Matt
Before we dive too deep into the world of AI, I wanted to share some thoughts about small and medium-sized businesses and what change means to them.
Many small business owners, in fact far too many, adopt a "Fire, Ready, Aim" approach when implementing changes. In the short run, this method may seem faster than taking the time to plan, but it’s a risky strategy that often leads to wasted time, money, effort, and, worst of all, dissatisfied customers.
Planning ahead has consistently proven to save time, money, and effort in projects and change initiatives. The concept is straightforward: an issue uncovered in the planning stage is far cheaper to resolve than one identified later in the project.
This is illustrated by the 1:10:100 rule:
1x Cost: It’s least expensive to thoroughly plan and resolve issues during the concept and planning stages of your project.

10x Cost: If an issue isn’t addressed in the planning stage, it will likely cost 10 times more during development or implementation.
100x Cost: If that issue is only discovered after project delivery, it could cost 100 times more to fix.
Clearly, investing time in thoughtful planning is invaluable. Thankfully, it’s not an insurmountable task—even if you’ve never managed change before. All it takes is understanding the "Why, What, How, Who, and When" of your change initiative before you begin.
Of course, that’s easier said than done, especially when business leaders feel stretched too thin to take a step back and plan. This is why “Fire, Ready, Aim” tends to crop up far more often than we’d like to admit.
But there is a way to tackle the “Why, What, and How” quickly, leaving just the Who and When for you to decide.
If you're curious about how, join me on December 11th at 10am for a free 45-minute webinar: "How to Use AI to Deliver Your Next Project—Without a Project Manager." We’ll cover how to streamline planning, achieve better outcomes, and eliminate the guesswork—regardless of your project’s size.
