We are thrilled to announce that Paul Barker has joined us as our new UK Managing Director. With his extensive experience in logistics, we are eager to see the impact he will make at NMT UK.

Tell us about your past industry history

In some ways I am a bit of an anomaly! I have held senior roles within two Port Authorities, two shipping lines and managed a large project forwarders as well as having a spell working in manufacturing. So all these combined have equipped me with a broad appreciation of the service demands required across the shipping and Logistics sector.?

What made you choose to work in the shipping industry?

Like so many people I sort of fell into the sector. I studied engineering and then promptly took a job in a transport company as a traffic operator and found I really liked the buzz of the industry and was thereafter hooked.?

What do you expect your experience will bring to NMT UK?

Given the breadth of my experience in a range of sectors, I will look to support and empower the UK teams to directly input and deliver the NMT strategy.?

What are you looking forward to over the coming months within the NMT Group?

I am really looking forward to getting to know the teams and understanding their view on the challenges and opportunities before us. Also really looking forward to getting out and meeting our customer base.?

What has surprised you the most about working in the industries?

That even after all my time in the sector, every day has its surprises!?

What do you do when you aren't working?

I am a bit of a petrol head; both four and two wheels.?

What are 3 facts about you that would surprise others?

• I have a really eclectic taste in music.
• I support a football team that has not won a trophy in more than 50 years.
• I played semi-professional Ice Hockey in my youth and had the privilege of representing Great Britain in the sport.
