Weird Vision Symptoms May be Early Alzheimer’s Signs
Around 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, which is the most common form of dementia. Alzheimer's is believed to be caused by an abnormal buildup of proteins around the brain's cells. A recent study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, revealed that about 94% of individuals with Alzheimer's pathology also experience posterior cortical atrophy, known as Benson's syndrome.
While there is currently no known cure for Alzheimer's, there are treatments available if the condition is detected early. Posterior cortical atrophy is a rare progressive neurodegenerative disorder where brain cells in the posterior cerebral cortex are lost, leading to shrinkage (atrophy).
