What is sin, but a burden veiled from sight??

Not easy to bear, nor simple to define,?

Only the heart that's scorched can know its line.

The flames of guilt burn deep, unseen by passive eyes,?

For those untouched by fire, the truth is wrapped in lies.?

Can one who stands on shore, so safe, so dry,?

Understand the depth where hidden shadows lie?

Yet in the sinner’s heart, a heavy truth unfolds,?

A weight that sinks the soul, in ways no tale has told.?

It's there, within the dark, the bitter lesson’s learned,?

Where innocence is lost, and innocence is yearned.
