Weenies Don't Make Money

Weenies Don't Make Money

It's a sad truth that weenies do not make money. So if you're not making any money from your business- or very little of it- you're almost definitely being a weenie.

The good news is that you're in good company! Many new business owners suffer from weenie-itis when they first start out. The symptoms are easy to spot if you know what you're looking for, and the cure is readily available- Keep reading!

If you're suffering from the following, then you're most definitely being a weenie.

-Justifying your low rates to people who still want to negotiate you down- or tell you "oooh, that's too steep for me!" *eye roll*

-Worrying that no-one will ever hire you if you charge enough to buy exciting things like food, non-chafe toilet paper, and medical insurance.

-Experience a mild panic when someone asks you about your rates.

-Have sweaty palms when you think about raising your rates on your current clients.

-Have Day-Nightmares about having to quit and go back to a regular 9-5.

-Dwindling bank account balance.

-Started to stutter and stammer whenever a well meaning loved one asks "Hows your business going?" - because you don't know how to lie that it's going really well while also subliminally signaling that they should refer you business because you're desperate for any and all monies to start coming in.

The cure is simple and comes in 3 parts.

1. You need some know-how. It's hard to do something you've never done before without training, unless you're ready for a really high failure rate.

Really! Think on the hard things you've learned in your life that were made easier by being shown how to do it. Algebra, baking bread, assembling Ikea furniture.

Now imagine trying to do those things without a teacher or handy pictogram instructions. Misery. It would be like learning to walk all over again!

And training can be found all over- if you just look for it.

For instance- I'm doing a Pop-Up Training on how to enroll HIGH paying clients on Wednesday- if you want to learn how to charge more then you should definitely attend-

Next, part 2 of your cure. You need to heal your relationship with money.

If you're uncomfortable asking for it then I guarantee that you're suffering from a damaged relationship with Money. You have to fix that.

Trying to make more money when you have a bad relationship with money is like trying to date a really nice guy but still living with your jerk of an Ex who treats you badly. It's just not going to work out.

You have to kick that jerk of an Ex to the curb before the nice guy will stick around.

Now, onto part 3- You need a Dash of Courage. You need to put on your Brave-Ass Pants and just do it already. Do it before you're ready. Do it before you have it all figured out. Do it even though you might barf. Do it knowing you will absolutely fail at some point

Let go of your need for a guarantee, or to be liked, or to be not laughed at. They're stopping you from potential greatness.

And if you need a momentary boost, think back on all the scary things you've accomplished in your life. If you've survived till now then let's be real- you can pretty much do anything.

If you need help with this then you are welcome to attend my Being Brave Call on Friday at 11am EST. Link to register below.

Either way, stop being a weenie and start making money already!

There is nothing quite like the wonderful smell of money Ms. McManus. One missed opportunity often made is the concept of more clients is better. The acquisition costs have already been paid on the clients already in a business. Why repeat those costs and known profits when adding value to your business offerings is a better sale? Sell in the configuration of a ladder, not a straight horizontal line. The more services that can be offered to an existing client the better the profit margin. If you own a painting business, offer a house cleaning before moving on to the next customer. Do a good job, and you’ll get call-backs. Once in their homes cleaning, offer them a folded laundry service. Heck, the laundry cleans itself while you’re cleaning the home. If you are operating a fitness business, why not sell healthy fresh squeezed juice. Have a licensed massage therapist set up shop in your business and get a piece of their fee for providing the place of business for them to operate. High-stack selling is far more profitable and easier to accomplish because you’ve already made the sale, and your client trusts you. Money is a wonderful thing. It will not buy happiness but it will greatly reduce stress. The best to you!
