Can Lia Block be the first U.S. woman driver in F1?
At the Miami Grand Prix, Jamie Chadwick will be an official adviser to 17-year-old American Lia Block, guiding her through her first season racing for Williams in the F1 Academy. Chadwick wants Block to have everything she didn't have at the same stage in her career, including a mentor who understands what she's going through. No matter where Chadwick finishes behind the wheel this season in IndyCar's top feeder series, Indy NXT — or where her career takes her next — she can be responsible for helping another young driver achieve her dreams.
Last year, at 16, Block became the youngest driver ever to win a major American rally title when she and co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino won the American Rally Association's Open 2WD title, the first all-woman team to do so. In December, she became the first woman to race the top class of Nitrocross, even hitting the track's massive gap jump.
Sarah Adam becomes first woman named to U.S. Paralympic wheelchair rugby team.
The 12-player U.S. wheelchair rugby roster for the Paris Paralympics includes Sarah Adam, who became the first woman to be named to a U.S. wheelchair rugby team in Paralympic history.
The team is led by Chuck Aoki, who will become the first four-time U.S. Paralympian in the sport. Aoki was on the bronze-medal team in London in 2012 and silver-medal teams in Rio and Tokyo.
The U.S. made the podium in every Paralympic wheelchair rugby tournament dating to the sport’s debut at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Its last gold came in Beijing in 2008.
Six players return from Tokyo, while the other half of the roster is made up of Paralympic rookies.
A Florida mom of two and physical therapist is now the world record holder for the fastest mile while pushing a stroller (female): 5:11.13.
When Kaitlin Donner was pregnant with her second child, she was looking for a postpartum running goal that would give her something to look forward to, outside of a brand new baby. A friend of hers, the director of operations for Space Coast Runners , Brittany Streufert, encouraged Donner to go after the world record for fastest mile pushing a stroller, which was hovering around 6 minutes at the time.

“I was like, okay, this sounds kind of fun. I’m always looking for something to stay motivated, especially during pregnancy ,” Donner told Runner’s World.
Donner, 34, a former collegiate 1500-meter runner, had just come off the Olympic Marathon Trials (even the native Floridian said she struggled in the Orlando heat, finishing in 2:50 and change), so while she hadn’t fine-tuned her mile training, she was fit.
Then, on April 19, it was go time .
Project ACL: WSL clubs to take part in pioneering injuries research project.
Women’s Super League clubs are to be the subject of a three-year research initiative designed to find ways of reducing the incidence of anterior cruciate ligament injuries.
Although such knee ligament tears and ruptures afflict male as well as well as female footballers, they are between two and six times more likely to occur in women than men.
Project ACL, a collaboration between the international players’ union Fifpro, England’s Professional Footballers’ Association, Nike and Leeds Beckett University, has been launched with the intention of applying its findings across the women’s game globally.
