Lockheed Martin's (NYSE: LMT) aeronautics business has secured a $1.56 billion contract from the U.S. Navy to provide F-35 logistics support services for domestic and international military customers. The contractor will perform ground maintenance, depot activities, automatic logistics information system operations and maintenance, supply chain management, pilot training and training system sustainment.
Mark Peters, a scientist and national energy laboratory executive, will assume the role of president and CEO of MITRE on Sept. 3. Peters, who currently serves as executive vice president for national laboratory management and operations at Battelle, will succeed the retiring Jason Providakes, a 37-year MITRE veteran and a three-time Wash100 awardee.
The Air Force Materiel Command is soliciting proposals for a multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the Contract Field Teams labor augmentation support requirements program. Boeing initially planned to reacquire Spirit AeroSystems in an all-cash transaction but made a last-minute move by proposing to fund its purchase of the aircraft parts manufacturer using mostly company stock. According to people familiar with the negotiation, the two parties discussed a deal in which Boeing would acquire about two-thirds of Spirit’s parts supply business by paying more than $4 billion.
Summit Technology Group, a portfolio company of private investment firm Enlightenment Capital, has appointed Bill Webner, a GovCon industry executive, as CEO of its public sector business. Webner, a 2024 Wash100 awardee, most recently served as board chair, president and CEO of Capgemini Government Solutions.
