BAE Systems was awarded a $797 million initial order to proceed with full-rate production of the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle for the U.S. Army. The contract value could reach $1.6 billion if the service branch exercises options to procure additional units of the AMPV, which is designed to replace the M113 family of armored vehicles.

President Joe Biden has nominated Maj. Gen. David Miller to lead Space Operations Command and Maj. Gen. Sean Farrell to serve as deputy commander of U.S. Special Operations Command. The administration also pushed for the promotion of Miller and Farrell to the rank of lieutenant general.

Swedish defense technology manufacturer Saab has acquired Silicon Valley, California-headquartered artificial intelligence company CrowdAI in a move to expand its portfolio with AI and machine learning capabilities.
