Aaron Fulkerson identifies the real threat with AI: data sovereignty. “Control the data, control the industry.”
Opaque is mentioned in this article about security threats with AI, but everyone is missing the real issue. It’s not just about regulations and hackers… “Security and privacy is a growing concern as companies adopt AI. Companies strive to protect against malicious attacks and follow strict data compliance standards.Startups like Opaque Systems and HiddenLayer are aimed attackling these security threats.” The more significant issue is data ownership and control, what we’ve been calling data sovereignty. They who control the data control the industry. Period. Yes, security and privacy for regulatory compliance is a concern. Companies could get a fine. However, the real existential threat is owning your data. Look at Universal Music Group. That’s a business that will be Kodak in 5 years and relegated to the dust bin with Blockbuster Video in 10 years because their distribution partners (Spotify, Apple Music, Meta) control the data. “Opaque Systems, for instance, enables companies to share private data through a confidential computing platform to accelerate AI adoption.” Full article: https://lnkd.in/gcp3Sftc This is not isolated to music industry. This is every industry at enterprise scale with distribution and supply chain partners. Control the data, control the industry. Make no mistake, the next five years will be WILD as the companies who squeezed the toothpaste out of the tube (lost control of their data) implode. In this issue of AI Confidential, we cover this topic in-depth and explore how confidential AI offers a solution. https://lnkd.in/gWCx-bcm
