Lockheed Taps Northrop, BAE to Equip F-35 With Comms, Navigation, EW Systems
Northrop Grumman has been awarded a contract from Lockheed Martin to enable new functionality that supports the 5th Generation F-35 Lightning II multi-role fighter. BAE Systems is also part of the collaborative agreement. Northrop, Lockheed and BAE will equip the fighter jet with Northrop’s AN/ASQ-242 Integrated Communications, Navigation and Identification (ICNI) and BAE’s AN/ASQ-239 Electronic Warfare/Countermeasures (EW/CM) system to deliver optimal operational utility.
FEMA Chief Pete Gaynor to Serve as Acting DHS Secretary
Pete Gaynor, administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will serve as acting secretary at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). He will succeed Chad Wolf, who announced his resignation Monday in a letter obtained by the publication. Gaynor told his staff he will take over as interim secretary of homeland security and serve in that capacity through Jan. 20th.
Former USMC Exec Kenneth Bible Named DHS CISO
Kenneth Bible, former deputy chief information officer at the U.S. Marine Corps, has joined the Department of Homeland Security as chief information security officer, Federal News Network reported Monday. He succeeds Paul Beckman, who stepped down from the DHS CISO position last year and now works for Consolidated Nuclear Security in the same role.
