★ Apple Store Employees Unionize in the U.K.?★

Following the unionization of several Apple stores in the United States, the employees of an Apple store in Glasgow, Scotland have voted to unionize. It became the first Apple store in the UK to do so. This global pattern of unionization is happening amid sharp rises in living costs, and one of the main objectives for employees who vote in favour of unions is to gain a stronger ability to negotiate higher wages.?

★ Android Phones Notify Users of Earthquake?★

Google was able to alert some Californian Android users of an Earthquake around San Francisco before it even happened. The users received a message on their phone warning them of a 4.8 magnitude earthquake that was about to hit their area, thus allowing them to potentially prepare themselves safely. The alert came from sensors placed around California as well as in each phone which have the ability to detect seismic waves that are given off by an earthquake. An Android employee working on this technology has stated Android’s plans to increase their capabilities to detect these seismic waves.

★ Meta May Lay Off Thousands of Employees ★

Following sharp drops in Meta’s market value over the past year due to several factors such as increasing competition and economic turmoil, Meta might be laying off thousands of employees in the coming weeks. Mark Zuckerberg has stated that Meta needs to cut costs now and focus on their most important projects, most likely referring to the Metaverse. Meta is not the only big tech company currently laying off employees; companies such as Twitter, Netflix, and Lyft have been doing the same in order to combat rising costs.?
