How I Saved This Client A Lot Of Time & Money
How Athlete2Business Found the Perfect Sales Director in Just 4 Weeks!
Hiring the right leader can be a game-changer for any business. But when a global company spent three months unsuccessfully searching for a Sales Director for their Melbourne branch, they turned to Athlete2Business for help.
Their challenge? Finding someone with:
Why Athlete2Business? Two words: Athlete Mindset. The hiring manager recognized the value of our unique approach and was drawn to our 4 pillars of success—CHEC: Communication Skills, Humble Confidence, Emotional Intelligence, and Commercial Awareness. These traits aren’t just desirable—they’re essential for top-tier leaders.
Here’s how I found their perfect candidate in just over 4 weeks:
The Results In just over 4 weeks, the client hired the best candidate on the market, saving significant time, money and effort. The new Sales Director not only brings the desired sales and leadership skills but embodies the Athlete Mindset and CHEC traits that will drive the business forward.
Why This Matters Finding senior high performers, especially for niche roles, isn’t easy. It requires precision, persistence, and a deep understanding of what makes a candidate truly exceptional. At Athlete2Business, we don’t just fill roles—we find game-changers who transform businesses.
If you’re struggling to find top-tier talent, let’s talk. I’ll do the heavy lifting, so you can focus on growing your business.
Hunter VS Farmer
I’ve been speaking to a few sales professionals lately who say….
“Alex, cost of living is high, I want a new role in 2025 with opportunity to make money and I prefer an account management role.”
Bro, you don’t want more money!
Easy, stress free job (account management) - OK money.
Hard, high stress job (Business Development) - way more money.
Unless you’re a tenured (10+ years) sales professional, it’s very unlikely you’ll make $250k+ in an account management job.
Most AMs who are tenured, went through a lot of years of BD/hunting roles and now have the network/expertise to demand a high paying base salary as AMs.

And the best AMs I know still do a bit of BD to make more money.
Listen, if money is a motivator, broadly speaking, you’ll earn a lot more as a hunter than you will as a farmer.
And if you’ve been a hunter for the past 2 years and found it tough, haven’t been getting traction you’d like and you’ve hit the wall….Run through that bit*h and keep going, keep putting in reps, just keep calling, keep hunting!
“Everything you want is on the other side of hard!” - Quote by Chris Paul - NBA superstar!
Keep pushing through the hard!
But if you call me and tell me you want an account management job and more money, what you’re really telling me is “I want an established client list that’s easy to work with and I wanna get paid nicely for it.
”There’s nothing wrong with easy, just don’t expect to get the bag ??
Athlete2Business Podcast Stats
It’s now been exactly 12 months since I launched The Athlete2Business podcast.
I’ll be honest, here’s why I started it:
- I wanted to learn from senior leaders, high performers in their fields who used to be athletes in their previous careers
- their routines, habits, sales strategies, leadership methodologies and how they used their athlete experiences to gain success in business.
- It’s also a platform which has allowed me to meet senior leaders, hiring managers…so selfishly it’s been great for business development, along with above mentioned self development.
- Content! It’s given me hours of content for socials. I’ve also used the episodes as case studies, testimonials and info sharing with clients & candidates.
- Most importantly, I wanted to educate athletes on how to best transition from sport and educate the corporate world on how successful the athlete mindset can be in business.
12 months later, would I have imagined the podcast would be listened to in 14 countries, an average 5 star rating (given how amateur the production is) and 56 people voted it as their favourite podcast?
No way! Favourite?! Over The Diary Of A CEO, Joe Rogan, Tim Ferriss show etc.
And thousands voted it as their top 5 podcast!I know this is very small, but to all my listeners and especially those 56 people, thank you! This means a lot to me.
A huge thank you to all my guests - It's because of you, the show is growing!
You’ve motivated me to deliver a bigger and better show in 2025 so watch this space!
Bigger guests! Deeper conversations! More vulnerability! (Voted as biggest reason people like the show)
