In this week's PNP draw results, candidates are invited to three Canadian provinces

In this week's PNP draw results, candidates are invited to three Canadian provinces.

This week, Prince Edward Island, Manitoba, and British Columbia submitted nominations for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Provincial governments choose the economic immigrants who have the greatest potential to establish themselves economically within their provinces through the PNP and then send them an Expression of Interest (EOI) to apply for provincial nomination. The nomination of a province enhances a candidate's chances of being granted permanent residency in Canada.

A candidate must seek nomination to the provincial government if a province issues an EOI. This implies that they have to turn in any necessary paperwork and might have to pay an additional cost to the government. This is on top of whatever fees they may have paid to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for their application for permanent residence or Express Entry.

Candidates may choose to apply through the Express Entry application pool directly to a PNP program (known as enhanced nomination) or through a provincial government's base nomination process. If an applicant for Express Entry is successful in receiving a province's nomination, they will automatically get an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points on their Express Entry application.

British Columbia?

Five targeted draws were held by British Columbia as part of the BC PNP for skilled workers and international graduates. Over 194 individuals in particular occupations were invited to the draw, which was held on January 30. 89 applicants in tech jobs with a minimum score of 103 received the most invitations.

Additionally, 29 applicants with a minimum score of 75 in construction jobs were invited by the province.

A minimum score of 60 was necessary for candidates to compete in the subsequent three draws.

  • Childcare: 49 invitations
  • Healthcare: 27 invitations
  • Veterinary care: less than five invitations

Manitoba

117 letters of advice were sent out by Manitoba to people who were affected by the current events in Ukraine.

Applicants were taken into consideration if they fulfilled the qualifications for the Manitoba PNP (MPNP) Skilled Worker stream and were citizens of Ukraine. They also required a strong link to the province, which may be via a family, a job, education, or community ties.

Additionally, the province has warned that processing periods for MPNP applications could surpass six months due to the backlog of applications now being handled. It states that the MPNP will get in touch with candidates via the phone number and/or email address they submit on their application if more information is required.

Prince Edward Island

On February 1, PEI sent out 78 letters of interest to people who work in the early childhood education, construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and food processing industries and are eligible for the PEI PNP's Labour and Express Entry stream. The second PEI PNP draw of 2024 was this one.

According to the province, candidates are also taken into account for other factors like:

  • Language: either French or English;
  • Education: the type, level, and location of instruction;
  • Level of expertise and job experience;
  • Qualities that would meet PEI's urgent labor market needs are strategic considerations.
  • Other pertinent criteria for career changes include but are not limited to, receiving a job offer in Prince Edward Island and/or having prior work experience in Canada.
