Shaping the Future of Industrial Sustainability
In 2023, an increasing number of companies and nations pledged to reduce methane emissions. These commitments were primarily made through initiatives such as the Global Methane Pledge (GMP), revised Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, the Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC), and various national methane action plans.
According to the IEA's Global Methane Tracker 2024, if all methane pledges made by countries and companies are fully implemented on time, they would be sufficient to reduce methane emissions from fossil fuels by 50% by 2030. However, with uncertainty lingering around regulations in the US with the re-introduction of the Trump Administration which favours deregulation and economic growth, shown in their recent departure from the Paris Agreement, it is unclear whether deadlines will remain on track to be met globally.
To explore the major commitments, actions, and policies individual nations are currently adopting to effectively reduce methane emissions in the energy sector, explore our interactive infographic: The 2025 State of Methane Emissions Regulations Around the Globe.

Content of the Week
Industries relying on heavy machinery and facilities have pollution ballooning from smokestacks and diesel fuel running their fleets. Every corner allows greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to accumulate, offering an equal chance to track impact and use the data to implement solutions.
So, the question is, what tools can stakeholders use to analyze heavy industries, regardless of size? Find out in our article below!
