Refocusing on quality to strengthen consumer trust

Tesco and Harper Adams University to support future farmers
Supermarket giant Tesco has joined forces with Harper Adams University to create The Future Farmer Programme, an initiative they believe will help support farmers reach Net Zero and biodiversity targets.
Together with Harper Adams University’s School of Sustainable Food and Farming (SSFF), Tesco will be launching what it defines as a “major new multi-year programme”, something it claims will “help up-and-coming British farmers develop their skills in sustainable agriculture”.?Read more.
The top five prebiotic-rich foods revealed
Unveiling the top five foods that are rich in prebiotics, researchers have compiled a list that they claim pack the greatest prebiotic punch.
According to the Mayo Clinic,?prebiotics ?are typically high-fibre foods that “act as a food for human microflora” and are used “with the intention of improving the balance of these microorganisms”. Read more.
Lidl first supermarket to use Prevented Ocean Plastic in bottles
Lidl GB has announced that it will be incorporating Prevented Ocean Plastic into its water bottles and has said that it is the first UK supermarket to make this?change .
Available in stores throughout July 2023, Lidl’s one litre San Celestino Italian Sparkling Mineral Water bottles will contain a minimum of 30 percent?Prevented Ocean Plastic ?(plastic that would have otherwise ended up in the ocean).
According to Lidl, 12 million bottles of the item are sold annually, with the adjustment expecting to save a reported 100 tonnes of plastic from entering oceans per year. Read more.
