Bipartisan letter argues against proposed steel tariffs
On 12 June 2023, 36 members of Congress wrote a bipartisan letter to the Biden Administration, urging it to oppose a series of tariffs currently under consideration at the International Trade Commission and US Department of Commerce.
The tariff plans were put forward by Cleveland-Cliffs, a mining company based in Cleveland, Ohio, and involve increasing the price of imported tinplate steel by up to 300 percent. Imported tinplate steel is a metal used to package a multitude of items, including food such as?canned vegetables .?Read more.
Activia hopes to bridge fibre gap in the UK with new yoghurt range
Groupe Danone owned Activia has launched a new range of yoghurts to help bridge the?fibre gap ?in the UK.
The new range, called “Activia Fibre” includes three new flavours including “Walnuts and Oats”, “Apples and Cereals” and “Muesli”. According to research by the Food and Drink Federation, while?94 percent ?of Brits try to maintain a healthy diet and pay attention to the food they eat, however a reported 91 percent don’t eat enough fibre in the UK.?Read more.

Kerry opens “state-of-the-art” taste facility in Indonesia
Kerry, a provider of taste and nutrition solutions, has officially opened a new state-of-the-art taste manufacturing facility in Karawang, West Java, Indonesia.

The?manufacturing facility ?is a 50,000m facility that the company says “significantly expands” Kerry’s taste offering in Southeast Asia (SEA) by delivering localised products to its fast-growing markets.
Kerry has said that this facility is its largest greenfield investment in SEA and includes a manufacturing site, research and development pilot plant, and a sampling hub.?Read more.
