Partnership promotes breakfast benefits for young minds
The British Nutrition Foundation and Magic Breakfast have partnered up to?promote ?the health and wellbeing benefits of a nutritious breakfast for children. Under the claim “No child should go hungry!”, both organisations have explained that diet and nutrition are important for children’s development. With this in mind, they have said that they will be using the partnership to explore the link between breakfast consumption and health in children and young people. Read more.
Tim Hortons to enter South Korean market
Tim Hortons, a Canadian coffee shop chain, has announced that it will be setting up shop in South Korea. The next step in its global expansion is expected to take place later this year under a master franchise agreement with?BKR Co. Ltd. , one of the largest QSR companies in South Korea. The chain is known for its coffee offerings, donuts and “Timbits”: a bit sized fried dough confectionary. Read more .
MPs to carry out food supply chain analysis
With?food inflation its highest level in 45 years , the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Committee are set to investigate how profitability and risks are shared through the food supply chain. The EFRA Committee will also be?analysing ?the existing government system of monitoring and regulation of food supply chain profitability and risks, as well as analysing the impact of external factors such as imported food and global commodity prices. Harnessing ‘non-destructive testing’ to fight food waste
According to insight from New Food Waste Horizons, a pioneering insights report exploring the UK’s progress towards achieving zero food waste to landfill, the food manufacturing industry is a key contributor to the UK’s food waste mountain. While food manufacturers typically tolerate only?five percent ?waste within their processes, in the UK alone there are 8,000 producers operating 9,500 production sites – the scale is vast. Read more.
