Welcome to this week’s edition, where we explore the impact of “Purpose” in leadership.
Purpose in leadership is about having a clear, compelling vision that guides your actions and decisions. It motivates leaders to initiate change and inspire their teams to achieve more. A strong sense of purpose helps align organizational objectives with personal values, driving passion and commitment across the company.
Here is a story:
When I assumed the role of VP of Marketing years ago, I realized that the team had been drifting without a clear purpose, which affected employee engagement. I led workshops and 1:1 meetings with employees at all levels to redefine our core mission and vision. This collaborative effort helped us discover a shared purpose that resonated with everyone. As a result, we improved our internal culture and increased our market share by aligning our business strategies with our newly defined purpose.
Here's why having a purpose is vital in leadership:
1.???? Direction and Cohesion: A clear purpose provides direction for the company and helps unify the team around a common goal.
2.???? Motivation and Engagement: Leaders who articulate a compelling purpose create an environment where employees feel motivated to contribute their best efforts.
3.???? Strategic Focus: Purpose-driven leadership ensures that all strategic initiatives are aligned with the organization's overarching goals, enhancing effectiveness and efficiency.
Having a purpose is not just about setting goals; it’s about making a meaningful impact.
It’s about leading with a vision that drives the organization forward and enriches the lives of those it serves.

Strategic Focus: Purpose-driven leadership ensures that all strategic initiatives are aligned with the organization's overarching goals, enhancing effectiveness and efficiency." It's so interesting to see the lack of prioritization as an issue in a team or organization. For sure, there may be team design and talent to work through, but the first place to start is leadership and whether it's purpose driven. That's the key to strategic alignment and execution.
