  • ApiVera,?a bee-focused pesticide technology under agriculture technology startup Terra Vera , has been launched to address the critical issue of declining bee populations.?Albuquerque Business First talked to Terra Vera CEO and Co-Founder Carlos Perea. “Apis is latin for bee,” Perea said of the origin of the new brand’s name. “Terra vera means true earth and apis vera means true bee." Perea explained Terra Vera's product leverages biomimicry — science based on natural processes. Originally meant to help cultivators grow crops safely and protect them from disease, Terra Vera found their product additionally resulted in good control of certain pests, mites and aphids.   • Rio Bravo Studios announced plans Oct. 4 for a new commercial soundstage facility in the South Valley. ?The facility near the intersection of Rio Bravo Boulevard and Second?Street will feature four 20,000-square-foot?sound stages, with the intention to open in 2025. Rio Bravo Studios declined to disclose the price of the project.?CEO Daniel Chavez is also the owner of Revel, a local concert venue and entertainment complex.   • Dirt is moving at the site of a future 4,600-square-foot shopping pad on Albuquerque's Westside. The new building will be located at 2200 Unser Blvd. NW on the corner of Unser Blvd. and Vista Oriente St., which is next to Bosque Brewing Co. West and an existing Walgreens.??“It’s an underserved area in terms of retail businesses, there’s a lot of houses, but not a lot of retail,” Vanessa Valadez, senior leasing representative at Peterson Properties, said. Peterson Properties owns the land.   • Roberto Montoya was born and raised in New Mexico and now teaches New Mexicans to build their own homes on their own land. He started off with 1,272 plots of land in Rio Rancho when he received an unexpected call from Jennifer Taylor, the Sandoval County Treasurer, who notified him the properties had nearly half a million dollars owed in back taxes. “Fortunately, I was able to sell a bunch of lots to other investors to pay the back taxes,” Montoya said, but he would find a calling outside the investment sphere for the remaining land plots. After changing his company name to Sue?o Ser Due?o, "dream to be an owner," Montoya now helps others build their dream home.
