1. Tiktok ban to proceed

A federal appeals court upheld a law requiring TikTok to sell the app or face a U.S. ban, citing national security concerns over potential data sharing with China. TikTok plans to appeal but the ban could take effect as soon as January 19, 2025, just ahead of president elect Trump’s inauguration.

Brands are beginning to target Gen Alpha with young influencers rather than targeting parents as the purchasers. Young influencers are raising concerns about kids growing up too fast. Brands like Evereden and Claire’s also use in-person experiences to connect with Gen Alpha, who are shaping trends online.
3. Instagram Tests Reels Sampling

Instagram is testing a "Trial" option for Reels where users can share new content with non-followers first. This lets creators test new ideas without affecting their current audience. Engagement metrics are available after 24 hours, giving users the option to share the Reel widely or delete it based on performance.
4. Roku plans to fund branded social ads

Roku will cover creative fees for advertisers using Spaceback’s platform to repurpose social media content into CTV ads through Roku Ads Manager. This offer applies to campaigns run through the self-service platform until Q1 2025, helping brands transition to TV advertising with minimal cost and effort.
5. Omnicom Acquires IPG to Form Ad Giant
