1. 28GW n-type TOPCon manufacturing capacity was added in Astronergy on April 27
Astronergy Haining Manufacturing Base added 8GW TOPCon cell and 12GW TOPCon module manufacturing capacity. PV cell and PV modules capacities of the Haining base separately hit over 17GW and 24GW.
Astronergy Fengyang Manufacturing Base receives its 8GW TOPCon cell equipment. As the sixth manufacturing base of the company, Fengyang base is to focus on n-type TOPCon cell production.

1. China?added 33.66 GW of new PV in Q1

China reached 327.4 GW cumulative installed PV capacity at the end of March, according to new figures from the National Energy Administration (NEA).
The NEA has released statistics showing that the country added 33.66 GW of new PV power in the first quarter of 2023. This quarterly increase represents a 154.81% rise compared to the same period in 2022.
2. Biden to maintain?US?solar tariff pause with veto
US President Joe Biden plans to veto a move by Congress to end a two-year suspension on tariffs for goods shipped from Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia, which make up around 80% of the US supply of solar components.
3.?Europe?entering golden age for PPAs, says Pexapark
Swiss consultancy Pexapark has reported that 23 new PPAs were signed in Europe in March with a combined capacity of approximately 2.5 GW. This is the highest figure ever recorded by Pexapark in a single month and represents a 14% increase compared to February. Although March had seven fewer deals than February, the number of deals is still higher than any other month in 2022.
4.?Austria?accepts 100,000 applications in solar rebate scheme
The Austrian energy agency, OeMAG, has approved around 90,700 applications coming from homeowners in this year's first round of the rebate scheme for rooftop PV and storage. This number also includes applications left over from the previous year that were resubmitted and is related to PV systems not exceeding 20 kW in size.
5.?French Guiana?tenders public land for solar deployment
EPFA Guyane, a public authority in French Guiana, has launched a tender to allocate 550 hectares of public land for agrivoltaic and large-scale PV projects.
6.?South Africa?mulls waiving ecological approval for some PV, storage projects
South Africa’s government has initiated a public consultation to exempt some PV and battery storage facilities from obtaining environmental authorization during the permitting process, but only for sites categorized as having “low” or “medium” environmental sensitivity.
7.?Albania?set to tender 300MW of solar power by June
Albania is set to launch a tender for 300MW of solar power as part of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) renewable energy auction programme in the country.?
Albania’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy is working on plans to add an additional 1GW of renewable energy capacity through at least three steps, of which this 300MW tender is the first. Expected to be launched by June, the EBRD supports the tender, with grant financing from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.
