Weekly Tech Roundup #1

Weekly Tech Roundup #1

Welcome to CWN’s new weekly tech roundup newsletter, a place to collect all the latest news and information we’re watching.

Here’s what caught our eye this week:

  • To mark #InternationalWomen’sDay on March 8, Deloitte AI Institute is featuring the stories of the female powerhouses working in AI and data science in an effort to encourage more girls and women to enter the tech workforce, which unfortunately remains dominated by men.??
  • We're excited to shine a light on promising #Canadian #start-ups raising capital. This week we are featuring Neurovine , an evidence-based #DigitalHealth start-up that empowers #BrainHealth patients on their path to recovery after an acquired #braininjury. Your investment can help shape the future of brain health! Check out their @FrontFundr campaign page here: https://www.frontfundr.com/neurovine?
  • StrikeUP 2023, a digital conference for #womenentrepreneurs, is happening on March 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature some notable speakers including Michele Romanow and Amber Mac. Registration is free!
  • DMZ is hosting its Women Founders Summit on March 7 in partnership with Firehood and will offer women-businesses the opportunity to pitch to up to 50 angel investors for an investment prize. We’re also looking forward to the second-annual Women of the Year awards to be announced at the summit.
  • Congratulations to Athena Alliance founder and CEO Coco Brown , who was named to the Silicon Valley Business Journals’ very first Power 100 list.?
  • Experts are concerned about a growing number of women in senior roles who are quitting their positions, as the so-called ‘quitting gap’ between men and women in senior positions. The most recent high-profile exit was former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, who announced last week she was stepping down to focus on family, health and personal projects.?
  • The51 opened applications for its new Founder’s Lab, a 9-week, hybrid program to prepare women entrepreneurs to raise capital.?
  • Teconnect+ED is accepting submissions for its Launch Point Pitch Competition for Southern Albertans in the Lethbridge region. Cash prizes are available for the top 3 pitches in each stream. March 30th is the deadline to submit a pitch.?
