Indian state agencies roll out ground mounted & floating solar tenders: Various state-owned agencies in India are looking at expanding their green energy credentials with solar PV capacity on top of the list. Last week, there were at least 4 new tenders launched representing a combined capacity of more than 2.6 GW.?

1.2 GW NHPC call: NHPC has opened invited solar power generators for 1.2 GW of grid-connected solar PV capacity with Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connectivity under tranche IX Solar (2024-25). An additional 1.2 GW capacity is available under the greenshoe option.?Land for the projects needs to be identified by the winners. The minimum project size will be 50 MW, and thereafter in multiples of 10 MW. A single bidder stands to win a maximum of 600 MW without the greenshoe option, and 1.2 GW with the greenshoe option.?Winners will secure a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with NHPC that will then sell the power generated to other buying entities.?According to the call issued on October 8, 2024, the last date to submit bids is November 4, 2024.? Solar PV minigrid systems tender in federated states of Micronesia: The state-owned electricity supplier in the Federated States of Micronesia, Yap State Public Service Corporation (YSPSC) has invited bidders to deploy solar PV minigrids in Yap, a remote island in the western Pacific.?The corporation is seeking the supply and delivery of solar PV minigrid systems for a combined capacity of 79 kW along with battery energy storage systems (BESS).?Solar PV panels expected to be deployed under the tender must have 550 W certified output for utility applications and a minimum module efficiency of 21.21%. These should be resistant to salt mist corrosion and have resilience against extreme weather conditions. The tender document also contains other technical specifications.?These are proposed to be located in Ifalik and Lamotrek, the outer islands in the Yap state.?The tender was issued on October 7, 2024. The last date to submit bids is January 28, 2025, according to the call.??

Panama launches renewable energy procurement drive: The National Energy Secretariat of Panama has launched a new renewable energy procurement round with an aim to protect the users from sudden electricity rate hikes. This short-term power and energy procurement tender is to ensure electricity supply for the period 2025 to 2030.??The Secretariat issued Resolution MIPRE-2024-0033084 on October 9, 2024, with a view to ensure a ‘quick and effective response,’ protecting consumers from unexpected rate increases, and ensuring the continuity of the electric service in the coming years.?This resolution establishes requirements for both power and energy contracts to ensure there is no over-contracting that could be passed on to the consumers through their electricity bills.
