Back on July 30th, usage of the Federal Reserve’s Overnight Reverse Repo Facility (ON RRP) hit $1 trillion for the first time. After a brief dip below this milestone, we have now seen seven consecutive days of $1 trillion+ parked at the Fed in a sign of just how much “excess” cash is floating around the financial system.

MIXED NEWS ON BUSINESS SPENDING
Well, was the durable goods data for July weak or strong? The headline came in at -0.1%, not far off consensus views. But core capex orders, the most important aspect to the report since they are a proxy for business spending intentions, were flat for the first time since February and came in with the second weakest reading since April 2020.
GLOBAL WATER FIGHT: ADD THIS LIQUIDITY TO THE PORTFOLIO
For investors, knowing about water risks can help to strengthen long-term selection of investments by industry, region and corporate social responsibility practices of individual firms. It is clear that significant investments will be needed to strengthen water utilities against the impacts of climate change, but this looks to be the early stages of a bullish secular theme.
