AI-enabled energy management startup Ampotech attracts investment
Ampotech, a Singaporean energy management solutions provider, has received an undisclosed investment from Clime Capital, facilitated through its Southeast Asia Clean Energy Fund II (SEACEF II). The funding will fuel Ampotech’s expansion across Southeast Asia, with an initial focus on Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Ampotech uses the IoT and edge computing technology to help energy, operations, and facilities managers improve the performance of their buildings.
Protex AI raises $36m to continue US expansion
Workplace safety start-up Protex AI has secured $36m in a Series B funding round as the start-up expands across the US. The oversubscribed round was led by global investment firm Hedosophia, with participation from Salesforce Ventures and existing investors. The Limerick-founded start-up provides tech that acts as a “third eye” to existing CCTV infrastructure. It offers an AI-powered platform that plugs into CCTV devices and uses computer vision to capture unsafe events autonomously.
Centerseat Secures $2.7M in Seed Funding to Innovate Physical Security Compliance
Centerseat ai, a vendor in the field of physical security compliance, announced the successful completion of a $2.7 million seed funding round. The investment was led by Silverton Partners. Centerseat offers a platform that minimizes administrative burdens while enhancing the strategic effectiveness of physical security initiatives.

Altus Power Announces Agreement to be Acquired by TPG
Altus Power, Inc., the largest owner of commercial-scale solar in the US, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by TPG through its TPG Rise Climate Transition Infrastructure strategy for $5.00 per share of its Class A common stock in an all-cash transaction that values the Company at approximately $2.2 billion, including outstanding debt. Upon completion of the transaction, Altus Power will become a privately held company.

The acquisition enhances Arcadia’s new suite of Enterprise Solutions, expanding its Energy Procurement Advisory offering for businesses across the US. Cumulocity, the German IIoT (Industrial IoT) vendor has announced its acquisition by its management team from Software AG. The team is backed by European financial investor Avedon, which supports owner-led companies in achieving their growth objectives, together with Schroders Capital, the private markets-focused division of the Schroders Group.

Samsung Electronics partners with Yuchang E&C to develop AI smart modular buildings
Samsung Electronics is embarking on an expansion of the artificial intelligence (AI) smart modular construction market in partnership with Yuchang E&C, the largest modular construction manufacturer in Korea. Samsung Electronics plans to apply custom AI solutions provided by 'SmartThings Pro,' as well as AI appliances, including system air conditioners, signage, refrigerators, and washing machines, along with approx 4,200 types of SmartThings-linked devices to Yuchang E&C's various modular buildings.

Amazon stores remove their company’s own Just Walk Out technology
While Amazon Just Walk Out technology seems to be succeeding in campus c-stores and stadiums, the retail giant has failed to make a go of it in its company-owned stores. In Spring 2024, Amazon pulled the technology from its Amazon Fresh stores. At the time, there were 44 locations of which 27 used Just Walk Out, according to Convenience org. They replaced the AI-enabled system with smart shopping carts that let shoppers to scan items as they move through the store.

BIM Startup Motif has Emerged from Stealth to take on Revit
BIM startup Motif has just emerged from stealth, aiming to take on Revit and provide holistic solutions to the fractured AEC industry. Led by former Autodesk co-CEO Amar Hanspal and backed by a whopping $46 million in funding, Motif stands out in a crowded field. Motif joins other startups including Arcol, Qonic, and Snaptrude, who are already on steady development paths to tackle collaborative BIM.
