The Eastside Rooms wins BIALL 2025 Conference

The Eastside Rooms , Birmingham’s newest conference centre, has been chosen to host the BIALL (British and Irish Association of Law Librarians) annual conference in 2025.

BIALL is the leading professional body in the UK and Ireland for professionals working within legal information. Membership is representative of all sectors including academic, law firms, government and professional bodies. It supports those working in the industry, promoting the value of law librarians and the legal information profession.

The annual conference is the highlight of the BIALL year and an opportunity for members to come together for three days of professional development and networking.

ExCeL London to dish up millions of lower carbon meals

Excel London , together with its long-standing catering partner?Levy UK + Ireland, have announced a new partnership with food environmental data experts,?Foodsteps, to help reduce the embodied carbon emissions in the millions of dishes its in-house team of chefs create and serve every year.?

Levy, the sports and entertainment arm of?Compass Group UK & Ireland, has been ExCeL’s catering partner since the Royal Docks venue first opened in 2000, and has been putting food and drink at the heart of its 400 events and four million annual visitors ever since.

Foodsteps is the leading food sustainability data experts, who aid food businesses to measure, report, reduce and communicate their food footprint. Foodsteps will provide the kitchen and operational teams at ExCeL with detailed, UK-specific data on the lifecycle footprint of its produce, allowing the team to design lower carbon recipes. In addition, the partnership also includes a new customer-facing labelling system – using Foodsteps’ A (very low) to E (very high) rating – which will help visitors and event organisers make more climate conscious food choices.

BMA House has launched its most sustainable Christmas party packages to date. The Walking in a Greener Wonderland packages are designed to specifically help event clients be more environmentally conscious at Christmas – a time of the year when waste and carbon footprint are traditionally at their highest.

Available from £105 per person, each green Christmas party package includes room hire, cloakroom facilities, advanced LED lighting and PA systems, and a dedicated event elf as standard; as well as estimated event carbon measuring, fairtrade tea and coffee, and eco-friendly centrepieces.?
