PV market news this week:

1. Japan Completes 19th Commercial and Industrial Photovoltaic System?Tender

The Green Investment Promotion Organization of Japan recently announced the final results of the country's 19th utility-scale photovoltaic system tender. The organization stated that a total of 134MW of photovoltaic systems were awarded in this tender. This is the 19th utility-scale photovoltaic system tender in Japan, aiming to procure electricity from 349.3MW of photovoltaic systems. The installed capacity of the 29 awarded photovoltaic systems ranges from 550kW to 29.9MW, with the lowest bid at 0.0 Japanese yen/kWh and the highest at 6.98 Japanese yen/kWh. The final average price is 5.11 Japanese yen/kWh (0.034 USD/kWh).

2. The European Parliament Approves the Installation of?Rooftop?Photovoltaic?System on?Buildings

The European Parliament recently approved the EU Photovoltaic Standard Act, which requires EU member states to install photovoltaic systems on buildings in the future. This standard constitutes part of the European Building Performance Directive, which was agreed upon last December. The directive must receive formal approval from the European Council to become law. The act states that EU member states must gradually install photovoltaic systems on the roofs of public and non-residential buildings, where technically and economically feasible, according to their scale.

3. The PV System Installed Capacity?Potential along European Highways and?Railways Reaches 403GW

A study conducted by the European Commission recently revealed significant electricity generation potential from both single-sided and double-sided vertical photovoltaic systems installed along European highways and railways. The study also reflects the impact of the orientation of highways or railways on the orientation of photovoltaic systems at a given location. The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission assessed the electricity generation potential of installing single-sided and double-sided vertical photovoltaic systems along highways and railways in EU member states.
