Have you ever felt stuck? You plan your day or even your whole week without any tangible results, but you can’t identify the root of the problem? After trial and error, I have added “Weekly Reflection” in my routine, and it has improved my productivity tremendously.
The 3 pillars of my “Weekly Reflection” are:
1- Accomplishments: I write one accomplishment at the end of the day.Your accomplishment doesn't have to be monumental! Somedays dragging yourself from bed is an accomplishment in itself!
2- Challenges: I write one main challenge that hindered my progress during the day or a challenge that I would like to address later on. Maybe it was lack of awareness in ordering your priorities or feeling overwhelmed. If this challenge recurred throughout the week, it must be addressed.
3- Actions: Challenges and actions are integral parts of each other. Writing the challenge solely does not solve the problem because you need an action (a solution to overcome the issue). For example, let’s continue with the challenge of lacking awareness in ordering your tasks. The action for this challenge would be scheduling your day according to your attention span. Start your day with tasks that demand the highest levels of mental effort, and as your day progresses, you will feel exhausted. Hence, schedule the tasks that require the lowest effort at the end of the day. Your attention is like a battery. The battery is fully- charged at the beginning, and as you use this battery during the day, it slowly loses its energy.
Before the start of a new week, overview your accomplishments, challenges, and actions. You will feel fulfilled with your achievements along with having a plan to tackle the previous challenges.
