What's Most Important When Scaling your Startup

Des Traynor CEO Intercom

Des Traynor, CSO & Founder of Intercom

Des believes there is an "epidemic" of startup advice that can overwhelm founders. In this episode, he shared the most important factors for startup success he's learned from growing Intercom to $150M+ in revenue.

  • Vision and Mission - have a clear reason to exist other than making money, it simplifies future decisions and keeps people inspired & aligned
  • Speed - moving fast is what startups are valuable, invest in removing roadblocks & bottlenecks, and be wary of anything that slows you down
  • Product Customer Fit - build a product where customers use your solution every time they have that problem
  • Product Market Fit - craft a repeatable, reliable, and efficient way to reach the people who have the problem your product solves.

Genies recently announced a $65M funding round led by Bond Capital. Akash's vision is to build a portable digital avatar for social media and gaming.

Genies has already had success in working with celebrities to use Avatars in brand deals, fan engagement, music videos, and more. Now, they are launching their consumer-facing avatar maker and digital good marketplace. Imagine celebrities releasing 50 digital t-shirts to commemorate a new album, fans will buy these and display them on their own Genies avatar.

The marketplace is being built in partnership with the team at Dapper Labs (makers of NBA Top Shot). They have already tested several drops of NFT digital goods with influencers like singer Shawn Mendes and European soccer player Mesut ?zil.
