Weekly Recap, January 31st-February 6th 2022

Evening cool kids! Get into any trouble this week? I present for your enjoyment the fifth issue of my LinkedIn newsletter. You know the drill: it's all my LinkedIn posts for the week (plus a few extras for the fun of it).

Here ya go!

60 years ago, for the price of two jet airliners (the Comet was the world's first) you could get a computer capable of doing six whole things at once. ??

“ARIA will empower scientists to pursue high risk, high reward research to create the industries of tomorrow.” ??

"I think this is a microcosm of how bad the incentives are in crypto - VCs and private investors that used to have to wait ten years for liquidity can now get it within one. The last time that happened was 1999, and we know how that ended." ??

“From Series C onward in 2021, the typical European startup raised more, both in terms of average and median round size, than its U.S. counterparts.” ??

Of the top 10 performing PE firms, 6 are tech focused, and 8 are US based. ??

Now some more things to make you go hmmm...

Here's a Kamasi Washington performance from this week. It's pretty lit. Covid taking away much of the live music scene has been one of the most difficult parts of the pandemic for me. I'll be including more music in the extras from now on:

Richard Pryor singing Bessie Smiths' 'Nobody Loves You When You're Down And Out':
