Weekly Recap

NIGCOMSAT activities this week has revolved around two sectors; the Defense and the Agricultural sectors. It's been a captivating week working with policy makers, stakeholders and clients in these sectors. A lot of focus has been on collaborating on joint projects together to show case our capability and engaging with stakeholders in the value chain for that sector. We are proud when clients are #ConnectedByNigcomsat.

Last Monday, I had the honor of addressing a distinguished gathering at the Gombe State induction program. The program, designed for newly appointed Gombe State officials, was attended by senior government officials, commissioners, and local government chairmen. I spoke on leveraging Technology for Digital Governance in Gombe state.This was the topic of my presentation was titled "Digital Governance: Leveraging Innovation for Enhanced Service Delivery and Citizen Engagement."

The 21st century is witnessing a transformation in the essence of governance, driven by digital technologies. Digital governance harnesses these emerging technologies to streamline government operations, improve service delivery, and foster meaningful citizen engagement. Recognizing this, Gombe State has a unique opportunity to create a more efficient, transparent, and responsive government.

The program wasn't just about familiarizing new appointees with the state. It also commemorated the 5th anniversary of Governor Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya's administration. Governor Yahaya's visionary leadership and commitment to advancing Gombe State through innovative policies and initiatives are truly unmatched. I was glad to share the stage with Ifueko M. Omoigui Okauru MFR. (non Executive Director of MTN Nigeria ), Victor Mba. M.IoD of Phillips Consulting Limited and Muhammad K. Ahmad an Independent Non-Executive Director of MTN Nigeria

Later in the week, my team welcomed Professor Samaila Usman, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research & Partnership, and his team from the Federal University of Lafia in Nasarawa State. The Federal University of Lafia is a forward-thinking institution embracing innovation by incorporating e-learning into its educational offerings. We are excited to be part of this shift, which will open up new opportunities for students, providing greater flexibility and access to a quality education. It's a truly exciting development!

On Wednesday, I paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman Momas Meters Manufacturing Company in Lagos, Dr. Kola Balogun. A key partner of the Military Industrial Complex in Nigeria. I was truly impressed by the capability and capacity of this company to manufacture military grade equipment and products locally. My discussions with chairman Dr. Kola Balogun centered on leveraging advanced satellite technologies to enhance the solutions been manufactured for our security agencies. Thereby improving the Security of the country and supporting the our troops in the Defense sector.

The NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) Sales and Technical Departments met with officers of the Giwa 2 Project, led by Major General Felix Agugo (Rtd), to discuss business collaboration opportunities. One of our key goals is to support the security agencies with communication solutions in difficult to serve areas, work together to deliver complex solutions and provide secure connectivity to them. The meeting also included a site survey of project location and the various equipment they have.

The NIGCOMSAT team were guests of the Chief of Defense Intelligence at the commissioning ceremony of the Defense Intelligence Agency's (DIA) new headquarters in Abuja. The event is also part of activities commemorating the first anniversary of the current administration.

Public Private Partnerships is one of the key pillars of Nigcomsat as outlined in our Strategic Blueprint. In line with that , I meet with Reuben Oshomah , Country Manager/Regional Director of Avanti Communications , focused on collectively working to enhance satellite Industry in Nigeria. Satellite technology remains an important avenue to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusive digital transformation across the nation. I look forward to working with Industry players in driving technological advancement in the region.

On Friday I was excited to participate at @theagriconnects summit. Where the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy of Nigeria @bosuntijani Shared on the Role of Technology in sustainable agriculture in Nigeria. The event was Chaired by His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR . Present as well was the Honourable Commissioner of Agriculture, @lagosstategovt Ms. @Abisoye Olusanya @abi_olusanya, Akinbulejo Onabolu of @mtnng to share their vision for sustainable agriculture in Nigeria.Special thanks to the Convener Toyosi Obasanjo

Saturday I was a Farmer as I visited #DunsFieldFarms in Ogun state, Nigeria . A 250 hectares Farm land prepping for its first planting season. NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) has partnered to provide connectivity on the Farm to connect all the precision devices on the farm.

? We are building a Mesh network with IOT sensors in the ground ( to measure soil, Temperature, Moisture etc every 15mins at 6 different layers of the soil from different parts of the farm).

? We are also connecting motion sensing, IP cameras for surveillance and motion detection on the perimeters of the Farm.

? This mechanized Farm has employed the use of technology in - drones mapping, spraying herbicides and fertilizers.They are onto something special!
